The “core” or “shell” of the on-disc game has a sort of plug-and-play feature that lets us quickly deliver content (such as characters and new courses) without clogging up your pipes, which also makes it easier for you to purchase the new content from the PlayStation Store (once you decide to) and access it right away. Ugh.

baddakutachi

I am soreley upset and disappointed right now. The student art show it at the college right now, and I went over the find out that my painting with the Flamingoes wasn't put in because there was too many entries. Yet my clay elephant shaped box got through, which isn't glazed right and it warped on the box. EDIT: I forgot to mention that I was supposed to get a letter but I haven't, so if I would've found out that way I probably wouldn't be so upset.

Mom didn't help when I called her on the phone. Basically told me to stop bawling (I hung up on her then called back to apologize) and that perhaps my painting didn't meat certain requirements and someone else probably needed a chance to get in. Yeah, really helpful. Made me feel worse, infact. She's coming to the college during my break to pick it up and take it home, at least. =/

It must be a shitty day for me, because now it's starting to rain while I'm out here in one of the sitting areas and it's starting to rain.

EDIT:

On the way home mom told me that I'm 23, almost 24, and that I'll be having a lot of disappointments in the world. I feel like she's telling me to grow up, which makes me feel even worse.

Right now I'm sitting on the couch being depressed, and waiting for my next class in an hour.

A Decade of Gran Turismo

playstationblog

Heritage is measured by an aggregate of impeccable work, outstanding performance, unparalleled design and revolutionary thinking. It’s a quality that few command, and those that do are respected for where they’ve been, where they are, and where they’ll go in the years to come. Ferrari has it, as do BMW, Ford, and Nissan to name a few. It represents years of passion and dedication, the power to reach beyond the niche and simultaneously dwarf and inspire the competition.

This is heritage, this is Gran Turismo. This is our decade long devotion to excellence, as this week marks our 10 year anniversary of the Gran Turismo series in North America.

And as of April 30, Gran Turismo has shipped over 50 million games worldwide, complete with unrivaled physics, stunning graphics and a loyal fan base from every industry and lifestyle across the globe.

GT boxes
Many of you who have been fans of the series can fondly look back with us to the days of the first Gran Turismo on PSone, which in many ways revolutionized and redefined the racing category within video games. Licensed cars, realistic graphics, customization, replays were all pretty much unheard of, or unimagined, back then in racing games. Since then, Gran Turismo has grown and evolved, adding new features as the series progressed. It has also allowed millions the chance to test drive EVOs, STIs and GT-Rs, cars that were extremely rare in North America. Many also extended their passion from virtual to actual, actively seeking those rare imports, working on them and tuning them for track racing. The series also introduced Photo Mode, a simple and overlooked feature that is now a standard in any racing game, as well as B-spec mode, where you became the race team manager, commanding from the paddock.

Which leads us to the here and now with Gran Turismo 5 Prologue on the PLAYSTATION 3, a thorough racing experience with multiple views and features that will once again, change the way racing games are experienced. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue offers Gran Turismo-TV, automotive content from around the world, news feeds ticker off real-time events, and sixteen player games (both online and offline) that recreate the rush of actual track racing.

GT1GT5
This is where our passions lie–in the cars, driving, and racing heritage. We’ve come a long way from the days of the first Gran Turismo, and we still have a ways to go to complete the vision.

Happy 10th Anniversary to everyone at Polyphony Digital and all the fans, both new and old, in our global Gran Turismo family.

bestljnameever

I got on Cathy's computer to look at some videos, and I realized I haven't been to LJ in awhile. The thing says my last entry was 11 weeks ago. I've managed to play a few good games since then.

Cathy picked up Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII while I was out of town, but I had the PSP, so we had to wait a few days. It was really awesome to see familiar faces and settings but in a new way. Zack's a great guy, and I wish more lead characters were like him.

I got Grand Theft Auto IV as an early birthday present. I had never played GTA before, so I was stunned by just how big it is. It's a great game, and I'm enjoying it immensely, but I hate how I always seem to time my missions to happen at night. It's like, "Go chase after this drug dealer through several buildings, climb these stairs, and jump between these rooftops. Oh, and we've invented a color darker than black to represent nighttime so that you can't see where you're going." It also sucks that retrying a mission means driving all the way back to where it happened rather than, say, the point right before you started chasing the guy.

I was invited to partake in the Metal Gear Online beta a couple weeks ago. It ended Sunday night, and now I have to wait a whole month to play it. It was really fun. The controls are quite complicated, and there were some things that I hope they improve after this beta, but I loved it for the same reason I love all Metal Gear games: it lets me think outside the box. Well, in the box. I cannot believe how many times I got the drop on people by just sitting in a cardboard box. Very rarely did my opponents try checking the boxes scattered around, but when they did, I formulated another plan that I can't believe worked as much as it did. I'd place a few men's magazines on the ground, lie on my back, and play dead. The enemy would check to see why I wasn't disappearing (like you usually do when you die) and get stuck ogling the magazines. While they're getting their perv on, I'd casually shoot them in the head. I also loved the SOP destabilizer in the game. Everyone on a team is hooked up through a network called SOP. When it's active, you can tell where all of your teammates are, if one of them is under attack, if one sees the enemy, etc. It'll probably be explained in the full game that SOP is used through nanomachines in everyone's brains. When the SOP destabilizer is used, man, the enemy starts trippin' balls. I had it used against me many times, and whammo, I was an instant Hunter S. Thompson.

One month left until MGS4. It'll be a very long month, but videos like these will make it better:

Just letting you know, I got my old e-mail address working again. (Or rather, it decided to start working of its own accord. ) I'll continue to keep the g-mail address on standby whenever problems like this happen in the future (and they will.)

Since my e-mail is finally working again, I can finally tackle my e-mail all in one go. Wish me luck.

Here's a project I've been working on little by little over the last month:

Athena the Angel. (Sorry for the huge size, but I'm too tired to look up how to do an lj cut. Well...lazy ,too....)

METAL GEAR MONDAYS! MGO Beta Finished

playstationblog

Hi all!

As many of you know, the MGO Beta came to a close late last night, and we would like to extend our most sincere thanks to all of you who participated, for your time and efforts to play and give us feedback on MGO. We had a great time, and we hope you did too!

Last Wednesday as announced here on the PS Blog, before the end of the MGO Beta we sent out a challenge to the top ranked clans in the MGO Beta to play vs our Kojima Productions/Konami team. Many thanks to the clans who participated, and all of the clans that wrote in to try to play. We truly wish we could spend all day playing, and fit everybody in, but we had very limited time – and we appreciate your patience and understanding. If you enjoyed playing, would have liked to participate, or would love more organized MGO competitions in any case, fret not – this is only the tip of the iceberg, and we have lots planned following the launch of MGS4/MGO…

I would like to extend a special thanks to the clan leaders who quickly rushed to organize and confirm their rosters for the competition: Nozdeuce of NeoGaf, Paradox Bat of W.O.L.F., THE-BIGGER-BOSS of Venom, Solid Tanuki of CheapAssGamer, and SwiftFox of SpecialOpsGroup – and, once again, all the clan leaders I chatted with who were interested to play.

Every match was an absolute blast for us to play, and for the most part, every round was extremely close. We had an amazing time chatting and playing, everyone was incredibly skilled, and really nice. NeoGaf clan member Freeman did a great job capturing and posting some videos from the NeoGaf vs KP/Konami match. Freeman has a tremendous opening from our first round of the first match, quickly laying waste to a few of our KP/Konami team members…

You can catch Freeman’s other video from the match here, where extensive use of Night Vision is employed.

Full match results after the jump.

Next, I’d like to call out that GameTrailers has posted the first installment of their incredible Metal Gear video retrospective. Be warned, it covers the whole series history in extreme detail, and contains MAJOR SPOILERS!

Lastly, in case you didn’t know, Wednesday night is Konami’s “Gamer’s Night” in SF – an event where we invite the press to come and check out Konami’s product lineup. There will be many long awaited and surprise announcements, special guests, and much more. Stay tuned right here on the PS Blog and at Konami.com!!!

Ok, I made up my mind, I need to let go of a few dolls, the ones I am letting go of are Dakotah, August and most likely Paris (modded Hounds), I will post pics later.

I love these dolls but I think I can live without them, if not then I can always replace them, so that is a relief for me! I put up a "Feelers" for Dakotah on DoA to see if anyone is even interested:

http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=214753

I think the Spinel head is spoken for but I will keep you updated. I'm keeping my Haute Hound for now because he cannot be replaces so easily. If there are anymore dolls that I may sale I will update it here first.

I also have a "Bully" face plate that I am making into a boy, and I will be adding a scar and he will go to eBay, and of course my ever so long tanned dark Elf El project, I would like to finish that and get him out of the way. I also have a "Dia" head coming that I think I may make a boy out of, sorry guys but that is just who I am, I'm all about the boys ^^

If I come across a Girl Volks head on DoA I may snatch it up!

gee, i keep thinking i'm going to update this thing then end up not doing it.

this week was actually pretty productive. i'm working on the base game engine's graphics algorithms and so far, i can load graphics yay! painting's going pretty well too. finished up the drawings and got the final game on the wall: lemmings. got a good number of those little buggers up there and 4 colors on the wall!

the most exciting thing this past week, loosely speaking, is chasing after the bus on thursday. the 99 decided it didn't want to drop me off at the 99's usual location (which is right by the 232 i transfer to), so i had to dash half way across the station, bookbag and all, to barely make my bus. douchebag 99 >/. pity i hit the curb wrong and sprained my ankle. i'd make a horrible ninja.

and there's [info]elysium_cruiser crack abound! a haunting on the ship! :3

and the gifts i got for my mom and sister at disney? they loved them! :D

and one last thing HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY!!!

Diet plan almost complete

alindawyl

Today's weight measurement... 168. Three pounds left. Then I go into maintenance mode instead of loss mode. It's been more difficult without the pre-packaged Nutri-system meals to force entrees into the right size/nutrition, and without Tanya around to keep me honest. But progress is still progress. And I have yet to backslide and gain weight, no matter how much I miss the mark on eating the right stuff.

Tomorrow the regular exercise begins. On and off exercising is over. Time to get relatively toned and in shape. Not much use in losing all that weight if I'm not also going to work on muscle tone and my heart. With the exception of one grandfather who died of stomach cancer, every other dead relative of mine that I've known left us because of heart/circulatory problems. There's some history there to be concerned about.

Last night I went to [info]fishay's graduation party. She got Rock Band and downloaded Portal's "Still Alive" song for it, of which a semi-large number of people didn't know. Here is a brief rundown of a popular saying related to this game:

"The cake is a lie."
This phrase stems from the game Portal. The concept is fairly simple, but nice - you have a gun that can shoot entry and exit portals. Shoot a portal Here, shoot a portal There, and when you step into it you're suddenly at the There location. You with portal gun are put into a series of tests and experiments that you must escape, the prompt being there is cake waiting for you while guided by a soothing if semi-sadistic computer voice. Best game objective ever.

However, at one point, you encounter a room where someone had scrawled "The cake is a lie. The cake is a lie. The cake is a lie." half a dozen times on a wall before ending in a scribble, suggesting they died without delicious cake. :(

The ending theme is simple and sweet. It's the computer singing, after you've defeated the game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6ljFaKRTrI
But I quite love this British (correction: Jerusalem) band's cover:

(download the band's MP3 here: http://www.missFlag.com/?section=portal )

We do what we must because we can. For the good of all of us. Except the ones who are dead...!

Spoiler, cake is a lie, and the prize is death.
